WELLINGTON: 13 passengers have been hospitalised after a LATAM flight from Sydney to Auckland skilled a “technical occasion” that prompted severe turbulence on Monday (Mar 11), the airline and first responders instructed AFP.
Chile-based LATAM Airways stated flight LA800 “had a technical occasion through the flight which prompted a powerful motion. The airplane landed at Auckland Airport as scheduled”.
Gerard Campbell of St John Ambulance New Zealand stated medics had been alerted to an incident on the airport and 13 sufferers had been taken to an area hospital by ambulance.
“We had been notified at 3.58pm and responded with 5 ambulances,” he stated.
“Our ambulance crews assessed and handled roughly 50 sufferers, with one affected person in a severe situation and the rest in a reasonable to minor situation,” Campbell stated.
The airline stated LATAM “deeply regrets any inconvenience and discomfort this case could have prompted”.
