Channel 4 has launched a primary take a look at Succession star Harriet Walter as Margaret Thatcher within the British broadcaster’s upcoming James Graham drama Brian and Margaret.
Deadline first revealed the two-part collection in June and it’ll chronicle Thatcher’s final TV interview, the massively damaging ITV grilling by her outdated pal Brian Walden, performed by Steve Coogan.
The drama is directed by Stephen Frears and produced by Child Cow Productions, Coogan’s manufacturing firm. It’s primarily based on two chapters from the ebook Why Is This Mendacity Bastard Mendacity to Me? by ex-BBC journalist Rob Burley.
Walter takes on a job performed by loads down the years. Gillian Anderson gained an Emmy for her portrayal in The Crown and Meryl Streep scooped an Oscar 12 years in the past for The Iron Woman.
Brian and Margaret was greenlit by Channel 4 drama and movie chief Ollie Madden. Madden commissioned with Ben Wadey. Government producers are Sarah Monteith, Delyth Scudamore and Rupert Majendie, whereas Dan Winch is producer. BBC Studios is promoting internationally.
