To the editor: Wolves are hardly an outdated nemesis (“Lovely, lethal: Wolves stalk rural California,” April 21). They’re the animals that hold different wild animals in examine and in stability. They assist to guard what little remaining wilderness we’ve got left and hold it wild and prospering. In fact the place persons are dwelling, working and farming, wolves usually have a nasty status. However they’re important to a thriving ecosystem. Biologists are nonetheless discovering how a lot there’s to find out about what they really do for wildlife, the ecosystem and for us.

To the editor: I learn with curiosity your article about wolf predations. Nowhere it’s talked about that in Colorado and different locations, sure breeds of canine can shield cattle. Breeds comparable to Pyrenees, Anatolian and Akbash are large highly effective canine and when you’ve got various them (one may not be sufficient to fend off an assault by a number of wolves), they are often very efficient in defending cattle.
