9 South African and three Malawian peacekeeping troopers have been killed by M23 rebels, authorities say.

A minimum of 12 peacekeepers, together with two from the UN peacekeeping power MONUSCO, have been killed in combating in japanese Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), authorities stated.

Congolese troops and peacekeepers have been battling in latest days to cease an advance by M23 rebels on town of Goma, the capital of North Kivu province.
