LIMA : An “amphibious mouse” with partially webbed ft that eats aquatic bugs was amongst 27 new species found throughout a 2022 expedition to Peru’s Amazon, in line with Conservation Worldwide.

Scientists additionally found a spiny mouse, a squirrel, eight varieties of fish, three amphibians and 10 varieties of butterflies, Trond Larsen, head of Conservation Worldwide’s Speedy Evaluation Program, instructed Reuters this week.

He added that one other 48 species discovered by investigators had been doubtlessly new, however wanted additional research.

The brand new species had been present in Alto Mayo, a protected space with a number of ecosystems, Indigenous territories and villages.
