As US and China defence chiefs meet in Singapore, consideration turns to rising tensions over the way forward for Taiwan.
Defence chiefs from across the Asia Pacific are in Singapore to debate safety challenges dealing with the area.
The three-day summit, referred to as the Shangri-La Dialogue, attracts high-level ministers, navy heads and international safety analysts.
The main target shall be on international coverage, with delicate diplomatic talks happening behind closed doorways.
However relations are already frosty between the world’s two superpowers – China and the USA. Beijing has warned Washington towards interfering in its affairs after their defence ministers met to debate Taiwan.
Whereas that relationship sees no signal of thawing, others are looking for widespread floor.
So, which alliances could be strengthened and will new ones be established?
And the way is all this affecting the stability of energy across the globe?
