A raft of Australian companies – together with main banks, media retailers and an airline – have reported being hit by a mass IT outage.

Jetstar has been crippled at Sydney airport, supermarkets are experiencing checkout chaos, and broadcast networks have been left scrambling on air as autocue and graphics failed.

Hours earlier than Australia was severely affected, a handful of airways within the US additionally reported having to floor planes because of Microsoft IT points.

The reason for the outage is unclear, however a few of these affected have linked it to Microsoft PC working programs.

Outage web site Downdetector exhibits points being reported by the Nationwide Australia Financial institution, telecom agency Telstra, Google and extra.

An official Microsoft 365 service replace earlier within the day stated ” we’re investigating a difficulty impacting customers capability to entry varied Microsoft 365 apps and companies”, in an announcement on Twitter.
