US President Joe Biden has stated that his administration was cancelling $1.2bn value of scholar loans for nearly 153,000 individuals.

Left-leaning progressive and younger voters, whose assist Biden must win re-election in November, have been vocal in advocating for scholar mortgage forgiveness on a large scale. Republicans largely oppose such actions.
