To the editor: One of many best cons in American historical past has been convincing people who water in plastic bottles is healthier than what comes out of the faucet. (“Forest Service orders Arrowhead bottled water firm to close down California pipeline,” Aug. 7)
Faucet water is completely secure and wholesome. What will not be completely secure and wholesome for the world is drawing hundreds of thousands and hundreds of thousands of bottles’ value of water from springs — the place the water is, if not outright stolen, acquired by means of doubtful underhanded offers.
The water is, after all, completely secure to drink. However each time you seize a type of water bottles, do not forget that it took oil to supply that bottle. And, bottles are among the many greatest contributors of unrecycled plastic on the planet.
The superb documentary “Tapped Out” explored the identical difficulty in Maine with Poland Springs. In case you are that involved concerning the water you drink, purchase a water filter. Drink faucet water to save lots of the planet.

To the editor: I commend District Ranger Michael Nobles of the U.S. Forest Service for telling BlueTriton Manufacturers to cease drawing water from the San Bernardino Mountains and promoting it as bottled water. It is a courageous motion in going up towards such a formidable company.
A good friend of mine was a district ranger right here in Santa Barbara. She would remind me, “We’re solely hourly staff.”
