Gwenaelle Habouzit, Herve Fournier and Guillaume Reisacher, who allegedly met civil society leaders, have 48 hours to depart.

Burkina Faso has accused three French diplomats of “subversive actions” and ordered them to depart the nation inside 48 hours, in line with a overseas ministry letter considered by Reuters and Agence France-Presse (AFP) information businesses.

Burkina Faso’s authorities didn’t present particulars of the allegations towards the expelled diplomats, who it named as Gwenaelle Habouzit, Herve Fournier and Guillaume Reisacher.

Reuters cited a supply with direct information of the scenario as saying their expulsion was because of conferences they held with civil society leaders.

France’s overseas ministry has but to touch upon the report.

Fraying ties with France

Since coming to energy in a September 2022 coup, Burkina Faso’s army authorities has pulled away from France, its former colonial energy, kicking out French troops, suspending some French media, and repeatedly accusing French officers of espionage.

On December 1 final 12 months, Burkinabe authorities arrested 4 French officers with diplomatic passports within the capital, Ouagadougou, and charged them with spying, in line with Le Monde newspaper.
