The Division of Justice has introduced that it’ll monitor polls in 86 jurisdictions all through 27 states on election day for “compliance with federal voting rights legal guidelines.”

The company’s Civil Rights Division will coordinate the hassle.

Republican lawmakers in Missouri and Florida try to bar the company from polling locations, accusing them of “overstepping its authority and utilizing its screens to punish purple states which have tightened voter identification legal guidelines,” in line with a report from the Washington Submit.

In a press launch, the DOJ stated, “Displays will embody personnel from the Civil Rights Division, different division divisions, U.S. Legal professional’s Workplaces and federal observers from the Workplace of Personnel Administration. The division’s Legal Part enforces federal legal statutes that prohibit voter intimidation and voter suppression based mostly on race, shade, nationwide origin or faith.”
