Jim Gordon, a drummer for Eric Clapton, the Seaside Boys, George Harrison and others who was convicted of killing his mom, died this week at 77.
Gordon died of pure causes “after an extended incarceration and lifelong battle with psychological sickness” at a Vacaville, California, medical middle Monday, publicist Bob Merlis confirmed to Fox Information Digital.
Gordon appeared on the Seaside Boys’ “Pet Sounds” album, Carly’s Simon’s “You’re So Useless” and was credited with co-writing Derek & The Dominos’ track “Layla” with Eric Clapton.
Gordon was additionally a member of Clapton’s short-lived band Derek and the Dominos, Joe Cocker’s Mad Canine and Englishmen, Delaney & Bonnie & Mates, and the elite Wrecking Crew, which included a unfastened grouping of studio musicians who labored on recordings within the Sixties and ‘70s.

In 1983, Gordon was convicted of murdering his mom and was sentenced to 16 years to life in jail. He was later recognized with schizophrenia and was denied parole a number of instances.
A legislation in California on the time prevented Gordon from pleading madness.

Gordon started his profession in 1963 when he began to work for the Everly Brothers the day after he graduated from highschool, Merlis mentioned in a press launch shared with Fox Information Digital.

Amongst his hundreds of recording sessions, Gordon contributed to No. 1 hits by Harry Nilsson, Steely Dan, Carly Simon, Gordon Lightfoot and others.

“He leaves behind some of the extraordinary our bodies of recorded work by any drummer of his era,” Merlis added.
In accordance with Selection, Gordon is survived by his daughter.
