BRUSSELS: NATO on Wednesday (Jan 3) mentioned its procurement arm would help a gaggle of member international locations, together with Germany, the Netherlands, Romania and Spain, with a contract to purchase as much as 1,000 Patriot air defence missiles.

The company awarded a manufacturing and supply contract to COMLOG, a three way partnership between Raytheon and MBDA, the transatlantic army alliance mentioned in an announcement, including that European manufacturing of the missiles can be expanded.

“The consolidated multinational procurement, within the spirit of the European Sky Defend Initiative (ESSI), presents economies of scale and helps the enlargement of manufacturing capability for brand spanking new GEM-T missiles to fulfill growing demand”, NATO mentioned in an announcement.
