“DEEPLY PAINFUL” SITUATION

“Lately, the main focus within the Center East has been Palestine,” Assoc Prof Faishal mentioned, including: “The state of affairs there, particularly in Gaza, is deeply painful. The struggling of the Palestinian civilians within the occupied territories, together with youngsters, is insufferable.”

Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong mentioned on Friday that Israel could also be breaching worldwide legislation by proscribing humanitarian help to Gaza.

In a joint press convention with French President Emmanuel Macron, Mr Wong mentioned that Israel’s response to the Hamas assault on Oct 7, 2023, had “gone too far” and that its actions had precipitated a “horrible humanitarian catastrophe”.

“In our opinion, it might even be a possible breach of worldwide humanitarian legislation. So it can’t be justified,” he mentioned.

Assoc Prof Faishal mentioned: “(Mr Wong) mentioned plainly that Israel has gone too far in its actions. 

“Specifically, the restrictions it has imposed on the supply of humanitarian provides to Gaza are fully unacceptable. Within the opinion of the Singapore authorities, Israel’s actions are more likely to be in breach of worldwide humanitarian legislation.”

Assoc Prof Faishal additionally famous that the federal government had joined different nations in strongly urging a direct ceasefire, the safety of civilian lives, the return of hostages and the unhindered supply of humanitarian help.

He added that he was “grateful that leaders like Madam Halimah Yacob have spoken concerning the disaster in Gaza and have helped all Singaporeans consider the tragedy with compassion and style”.
