Finnish police consider the Eagle S might have brought about the harm to undersea cables the day past by dragging its anchor alongside the seabed.

“The police start an operation to switch the Eagle S tanker from the Gulf of Finland to Svartbeck, an internal anchorage close to the port of Kilpilahti,” the Helsinki police division mentioned in an announcement on Saturday.

This could be a greater place to hold out investigations, it added.

Finland’s customs service believes the ship is a part of a “shadow fleet” of ageing tankers getting used to evade sanctions on the sale of Russian oil.

The Kremlin mentioned on Friday that Finland’s seizure of the ship was of little concern to it. Up to now, Russia has denied involvement in any of the Baltic infrastructure incidents.
