Google has fired 28 staff following a sit-down protest over the tech large’s contract to supply cloud computing and synthetic intelligence providers to the Israeli authorities

The terminations come after the group No Tech for Apartheid on Tuesday occupied Google workplaces in California and New York to protest the $1.2bn contract generally known as Challenge Nimbus.

Video of the demonstrations shared on social media confirmed police arresting staff within the workplace of Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian.

In a press release on Thursday, Google stated that bodily impeding staff and stopping them from accessing firm services was a “clear violation of our insurance policies and fully unacceptable behaviour”.
