TEHRAN: Iran’s United Nations mission mentioned Saturday (Oct 19) that Lebanon’s Hezbollah group, armed and financed by Tehran, was behind a drone assault on the residence of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
“This motion was taken by the Lebanese Hezbollah,” the mission mentioned in response to a query about Iran’s position within the assault, in keeping with the official IRNA information company.
Earlier Saturday, Netanyahu accused Hezbollah of attempting to kill him after his workplace mentioned a drone from Lebanon had hit the premier’s household house.
The Tehran-backed militant group, which fights Israel in Lebanon’s south, has not but acknowledged the assault.
“The try by Iran’s proxy Hezbollah to assassinate me and my spouse right now was a grave mistake,” Netanyahu mentioned in a press release.
Addressing “Iran and its proxies”, Netanyahu vowed that “anybody who tries to hurt Israel’s residents pays a heavy worth”.
