TEHRAN: A senior Iranian official warned on Monday (Aug 18) that warfare with Israel may erupt at any second, describing the present lull after June’s 12-day battle as solely a short lived halt.

“We should be ready at each second for confrontation; proper now, we aren’t even in a ceasefire (settlement); we’re in a cessation of hostilities,” stated First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref.

TEMPORARY PAUSE, NOT PEACE

The June combating noticed Israel bombard Iranian nuclear and navy websites, in addition to residential areas, killing greater than 1,000 folks, together with senior commanders and nuclear scientists. Iran retaliated with missile and drone strikes that killed dozens in Israel.

The US introduced a halt in combating on Jun 24, two days after it joined the warfare by bombing Iranian nuclear services. However no formal ceasefire was agreed, solely an undeclared pause in hostilities.

On Sunday, Yahya Rahim Safavi, a navy adviser to Iran’s supreme chief Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, instructed Iranian media the nation was “making ready plans for the worst-case situation.”

“We aren’t in a ceasefire now, we’re in a warfare section, it may break down at any time, there is no such thing as a protocol, no rules, no settlement between us and the Israelis, between us and the People,” he stated in remarks carried by the Shargh day by day.
