To the editor: As a longtime member of the Pacific Neighborhood Police Advisory Board, I take heed to crime statistics at month-to-month conferences. I’ve commented that reported stats are considerably understated as a result of numerous crimes are usually not reported. (“New LAPD chief says individuals aren’t calling the police sufficient — and that should change,” Nov. 14)
Each time a neighbor complains a couple of latest crime incident, I ask in the event that they reported it. Most of the time, they are saying, “No, as a result of it takes so lengthy.”
As such, reported crime is likely to be a fraction of precise crime.
