Apple TV+ has set Friday, August 1 for the premiere of Jason Momoa‘s new historic drama collection Chief of Warfare. The collection will launch with its first two episodes, adopted by new episodes each Friday by September 19. The streamer additionally launched a first-look photograph, which you’ll see above.
With a predominantly Polynesian forged led by Momoa, Chief of Warfare follows the unification and colonization of Hawai’i from an indigenous viewpoint. Momoa portrays warrior Ka’iana, as he tries to unify the islands earlier than Western colonization within the late 18th century.
The ensemble forged contains Luciane Buchanan, Temuera Morrison, Te Ao o Hinepehinga, Cliff Curtis, newcomer Kaina Makua, Moses Items, Siua Ikale’o, Brandon Finn, James Udom, Mainei Kinimaka and Te Kohe Tuhaka.
The collection is co-created by Momoa and Thomas Pa’a Sibbett, who each share native Hawaiian heritage, and is produced by Fifth Season and Chernin Leisure. Momoa directs the season finale and serves as govt producer. Doug Jung serves as showrunner and govt produces together with Sibbett, Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, Tracey Prepare dinner and Brian Mendoza. Justin Chon directs the primary two episodes and serves as govt producer. Anders Engstrom, Jim Rowe, Molly Allen, Francis Lawrence and Tim Van Patten additionally function govt producers.
