Re: “124 WA shops threatened by the Kroger and Albertsons merger” [July 9, Business]:
I’m writing to make clear misconceptions concerning Kroger’s pending merger with Albertsons Corporations and the associated divestiture plan with C&S Wholesale Grocers.
No shops are being “threatened.” The divestiture plan ensures no shops will shut on account of the merger. All front-line associates will stay employed, all current collective bargaining agreements will proceed and associates will proceed to obtain industry-leading advantages alongside bargained-for wages. We made clear, constant commitments to this finish, which I urge readers to examine at KrogerAlbertsons.com.
C&S has a robust operational focus, skilled administration workforce and the monetary sources to assist these shops succeed. We structured the divestiture plan to make sure C&S is positioned to efficiently function divested shops by together with a cohesive community of shops, regional headquarters, beloved banners and the infrastructure they should proceed serving native communities for years to return.
At its core, this merger is about delivering higher worth to our associates, clients and communities. We ask everybody to contemplate the information.
