EXCLUSIVE: June Diane Raphael has been tapped as a lead reverse Lexi Minetree in Elle, Prime Video’s upcoming Legally Blonde prequel sequence govt produced by the movie franchise’s star Reese Witherspoon.
Created by Laura Kittrell, Elle follows Elle Woods (Minetree) in highschool.
Raphael will play Elle’s mother and function mannequin, Eva, who’s polished, pragmatic and thrives on protecting issues picture-perfect.
Within the films, the function was small and performed by Tane McClure as Elle’s mother and pop each tried to dissuade her from going to Harvard.
Kittrell and Caroline Dries function co-showrunners. They govt produce with Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter of Hey Sunshine and the movies’ producer Marc Platt. Jason Moore (Pitch Good) is directing the primary two episodes. Elle is produced by Hey Sunshine and Amazon MGM Studios.
Elle extends Raphael’s relationship with Witherspoon; Raphael has been recurring on Apple TV+’s The Morning Present, which Witherspoon is starring in and govt producing.
Identified for her sequence common function on Netflix’s Grace and Frankie, Raphael is also recurring on ABC’s Abbott Elementary. Her current credit consists of Peacock’s Primarily based on a True Story. On the movie facet, Raphael shall be seen in Zach Cregger’s horror thriller Weapons for New Line reverse Josh Brolin and Julia Garner.
At Amazon MGM Studios, Raphael has in rivalry improv-style multi-cam pilot DINKS, from Lionsgate TV. She is also hooked up to star within the multi-cam comedy One thing Depraved, a Bewitched-inspired comedy in growth. She is repped by MGMT Leisure, UTA and Ziffren Brittenham.
