To the editor: So the Academy of Movement Image Arts and Sciences is creating a brand new Oscar to debut in 2028 honoring stunt design (“After a long time of pushing, stunts will get their very own Oscar,” April 10)? Strive tougher, Academy of Movement Image Arts and Sciences. The nice stunt performers and stunt coordinators who thrilled us within the classics are largely gone and apparently forgotten. A lot of stunt results in fashionable cinema are performed by computer-generated imagery.

This can be a pointless award. Is the academy going to offer the Oscar to a proficient graphic artist who storyboards the “harmful” stunt work? That is like creating an award in 2028 for silent film title design.
