To the editor: Inasmuch because the state of California is the most important web tax donor among the many 50 states, a high-quality towards one among our main universities is each economically and morally questionable (“‘Uncharted territory’: Newsom and UC go to battle towards Trump’s UCLA sanctions,” Aug. 11).

That is a part of the assault on variety, fairness and inclusion. Plainly, if this stuff should be eradicated, what’s sought is a return to segregation. In view of California being a web donor, Californians are to be required to subsidize this shabby try at re-segregation.

I wish to see the state battle this and, to the extent practicable, to hunt not solely a dismissal of this doubtful high-quality but additionally reparation for the bills of preventing it. It’s unlucky that punitive damages can’t be assessed towards the apparent instigator of this try at monetary penalization for making an attempt to stay as much as the assertion of equality on the very starting of the Declaration of Independence.

To the editor: It truly is time to battle again. As a UCLA undergrad and legislation college alum, I’m personally affronted and shocked, however not shocked, by President Trump’s tried extortion of $1 billion from UCLA. I problem the UCLA Alumni Assn. (of which I used to be as soon as a board member), the college, the Related College students (of which I used to be as soon as president) and the college’s administration to face up and battle towards this blatant try by Trump to decrease the ability and status of main universities throughout the nation.

No matter might have occurred in the course of the campus protests over the conflict in Gaza, UCLA shouldn’t be antisemitic as an entire and to make use of this declare as a false foundation for the college to return to its knees is sophistry. All Bruins ought to get up and battle.

To the editor: The Oxford dictionary defines extortion as “the follow of acquiring one thing, particularly cash, by pressure or threats.” I’d say this describes what our president is doing to a tee. His efforts to extract large sums of cash from UCLA and different outstanding universities is disgusting.

I’m positive Trump is thrilled with all the cash he’s bringing in from tariffs, program cuts, settlements from different universities and legislation companies and firing workers. Then, he spends federal funds on a new ballroom for the White Home and extra Immigration and Customs Enforcement brokers. We, the individuals, are paying the value with all of the cuts to packages that have been really serving to us — to not point out the local weather of worry and uncertainty that he cultivates each day.
