To the editor: I served as a metropolis councilmember in West Hollywood for a few years. It was at all times my mantra that the general public would help advocacy on the big-picture points so long as I took care of the fundamental service points that affected their each day lives — on their road and of their neighborhood. (“How governable is Los Angeles?” Opinion, Jan. 22)
If the streets in your neighborhood are poorly maintained, if emergency companies are sluggish to reply, and if parks and public areas are soiled and unsafe, then the general public gained’t recognize or help specializing in main state and nationwide points corresponding to local weather change. In the event that they assume you might be taking good care of the enterprise that the majority straight impacts them, they’ll permit slightly extra latitude.
