Though a 4.1 magnitude quake is comparatively small for California, residents are on edge due to the report variety of temblors over the past 12 months.
2024 was a record-breaking 12 months for 4.0+ magnitude quakes in California, igniting fears of the “huge one.”
The “Large One” refers to a big earthquake alongside the San Andreas fault. Seismologists say California is overdue for a big seismic occasion.
“The common variety of magnitude 4 and above earthquakes for this area is about eight per 12 months, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) seismologist Lucy Jones stated in a televised Q&A following the earthquake,” the Every day Mail reported in December.
“To this point, we’ve had 14 in Southern California – the most important earlier 12 months was 13,” Dr. Lucy Jones stated in 2024.
