Re “Christopher Durang, 75, Grasp Playwright With Impish Wit, Dies” (obituary, April 4):
I used to be so saddened to listen to of Chris Durang’s passing. Chris was an exquisite, sort, hilarious man. And playwright.
In school I used to be in a musical he wrote concerning the lifetime of Jesus. The songs have been all showstoppers from well-known musicals with new lyrics. I can’t bear in mind the title of the present (that is 53 years in the past), however I bear in mind singing “That’s Incarnation” to the tune of “That’s Leisure”:
It’s Christ who will act out the function
Who’ll save man and his immortal soul
Hip hooray!
Jesus Christ is the way in which!
The phrase turned flesh
The flesh turned Christ
That’s incarnation!
His performs corresponding to “Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All for You” and “Vanya and Sonia, and Masha and Spike,” for which he gained a Tony, are classics. However largely, Chris was a pleasant man with a giant coronary heart and sensible wit.
