KYIV: Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal mentioned on Tuesday (Aug 27) that Ukraine wanted an additional US$15 billion to cowl its finances deficit in 2025.

He mentioned that Ukraine estimated the entire finances hole for subsequent 12 months to be US$35 billion, with plans in place to cowl US$20 billion. The deficit was about US$38 billion in 2024, in response to Ukrainian authorities estimates.

Shmyhal mentioned the federal government deliberate tax will increase and extra borrowing on the home debt market to boost extra funds for its warfare towards Russia. Parliament is because of debate these proposals in September.

As a part of efforts to boost extra funds, the prime minister additionally pledged to work to scale back the shadow economic system and enhance tax revenues.

Ukraine has obtained about US$100 billion of economic assist from its companions because the begin of Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022, he added.
