To the editor: Columnist Mark Z. Barabak criticizes state Democrats for interrupting San Diego Assemblymember Carl DeMaio on the ground final week, saying he must be “handled with respect” (“By stooping to beat, Sacramento Democrats present their pettiness and vanity,” June 29). I might disagree. Profitable an election doesn’t entitle you to respect. Being an honorable particular person does. Their antics are what John Lewis known as “good hassle.” Normalizing the actions of any individual that wins an election by displaying them respect is how we acquired in our present scenario.

To the editor: Thanks, Barabak, for reminding us that, on this age of MAGA chaos, we should always all follow extra decorum.
