Re: “Turning down meals assist for kids is shockingly callous” [Jan. 21, Opinion]:
I appreciated Charles M. Blow’s column. I couldn’t assist noticing that two of the states turning down federal cash for feeding hungry children are Iowa and South Carolina.
Ought to these small, stingy-minded states actually have such an outsized function in deciding who our presidential candidates will probably be? I believe not! After we permit states this callous to make political choices for the remainder of the nation, we find yourself with equally callous candidates like former President Donald Trump.
The unhappy irony is that the children in purple states who will go hungry now attributable to these “shockingly callous” Republicans will possible develop as much as then vote Republican themselves.
Transfer the early primaries elsewhere!
