Russia proposed a brief, two to three-day ceasefire to permit each side to retrieve the our bodies of fallen troopers. Nonetheless, Russian Overseas Minister Sergei Lavrov acknowledged that Kyiv rejected this proposal.

“I consider that is merely a gross mistake on the a part of the regime in Kyiv,” Lavrov stated.

Regardless of the stalemate, Russia’s prime negotiator, Vladimir Medinsky, confirmed that Moscow is ready to proceed with a large-scale prisoner trade agreed upon in Istanbul, scheduled for June 7 to 9. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy indicated that the primary part would begin this weekend.

Zelenskyy has dismissed Russia’s ceasefire proposal as an ultimatum and reiterated his name for direct talks with Putin, emphasizing the necessity for a ceasefire forward of any potential summit involving US President Donald Trump and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
