Groves responds to experiences of alleged antisemitism on Georgetown’s campus
In response to representatives’ questions, Groves cited a number of situations during which Georgetown enacted disciplinary actions towards alleged antisemitic habits. Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-N.C.) first pointed to a tweet that Georgetown Chair of Islamic Civilization Jonathan A.C. Brown printed on his X web page on June 22.
“I hope Iran does some symbolic strike on a base,” Brown wrote.
In response to a college spokesperson, Georgetown has since eliminated Brown from his place as Chair of the Division of Arabic and Islamic Research, although he retains the place of Alwaleed bin Talal Chair of Islamic Civilization within the SFS.
