Robert Downey Jr. will make his his Broadway debut within the lead position of McNeal, the brand new play by Ayad Akhtar, creator of the Tony-nominated Junk and the Pulitzer-winner Disgraced.
Downey will play the title character Jacob McNeal within the manufacturing staged by Lincoln Heart Theater and directed by Bartlett Sher (To Kill A Mockingbird).
McNeal will start previews Thursday, September 5, and open on Monday, September 30, at LCT’s Vivian Beaumont Theater. The manufacturing will play a strictly restricted engagement by means of Sunday, November 24.
Full casting will likely be introduced at a later date.

Downey, after all, is the Academy Award-winning actor (Oppenheimer) whose movie credit embrace Iron Man, Tropic Thunder and Chaplin, amongst many others. McNeal will mark his first time on Broadway.
