When Washington voters permitted state-controlled playing a number of years in the past, it was assured (assumed?) {that a} main portion of proceeds was slated to fund schooling and that this could relieve residents’ tax burden.
Lots of people voted to approve solely on that assurance (assumption?).
Nonetheless, at this time there may be once more a shortfall of cash, colleges are being shuttered and most elections nonetheless embody a faculty levy of some form. Nobody any longer mentions that the lottery’s income are serving to to coach our college students.
