Possibly it’s time to reconstitute the “Extensive Awakes” as an antidote to the modern “Know Nothing” crowd that declares something resembling the progress we’ve made on this nation over the previous 200 years as “woke.”
It’s alarming that campaigns for human rights, civil rights, girls’s rights, LGBTQ rights, immigrant rights, environmental justice, peace (did I miss something?) are topic to the wrath of parents who appear to wish to roll again historical past to a time when people might be owned and girls have been anticipated to stay barefoot and pregnant.
