BEIJING: Torrential rains triggered widespread flooding and landslides throughout southern China on Wednesday (Aug 6), forcing tens of 1000’s to evacuate as emergency companies rushed to rescue these trapped in collapsed buildings and submerged streets.
Greater than 75,000 individuals in Guangdong province had been relocated by midday, state broadcaster CCTV reported, after relentless downpours drenched city and rural areas alike.
LANDSLIDE IN GUANGZHOU
A significant landslide struck Dayuan village in Guangzhou round 8.30am, trapping 14 individuals beneath rubble and particles. Rescuers had freed seven survivors by night, none of whom had been in fast hazard. The physique of an eighth individual was later recovered, in accordance with CCTV, as operations continued into the evening.
