CBS soccer pundit Thierry Henry grew to become the middle of untamed celebrations final evening in Los Angeles after Panama netted a last-minute aim to clinch a shock win over the USMNT.
Henry, a legend of world soccer and greatest identified for his time in an Arsenal and French nationwide crew jersey, was sitting pitchside analyzing the sport together with his fellow CBS broadcasters Kate Scott, Clint Dempsey, and Maurice Edu.
The sport was tied at 0-0 and heading into its remaining minute when Panama ahead Cecilio Waterman scored the winner. Virtually instinctively, he chucked off his jersey, jumped over the promoting board, and ran over to Henry. After shouting one thing on the former participant, he embraces him and is joined by his teammates.
The second has been shared extensively throughout socials. You too can see former NFL participant turned-actor Terry Crews filming the celebrations on the finish of the clip. Test it out under.
In a post-match interview, Henry shared that Waterman spoke Spanish when he approached him and mentioned ‘Eres mi idolo’ (you’re my idol). Henry and Waterman later linked up throughout CBS’s post-match broadcast. Waterman gave Henry a signed match-day jersey and Henry mentioned he would ship the participant one in all his former jerseys in return. The pair hugged all of it out once more and had a short dialog in regards to the now-viral celebration.
“I watched him play at Arsenal, and the reality is, ever since I used to be a younger child he was an inspiration for me,” Waterman advised CBS. “I scored the aim, and I noticed you and I knew I needed to come and say hello.”
Final evening’s loss was a devastating blow for the USMNT and their new coach Mauricio Pochettino. They’re now knocked out of the Nations League finals. The crew, led by Milan star Christian Pulisic, will play once more on Sunday within the third-place sport in opposition to Canada.
