ISTANBUL: Turkish police detained not less than 15 protesters in Istanbul on Sunday (Jun 30) for collaborating in a banned LGBT Satisfaction rally, after looking the streets having arrived on the scene after members had dispersed, a Reuters witness stated.
The Istanbul Governor’s Workplace stated earlier on Sunday that the Satisfaction March wouldn’t be permitted. Turkish police blocked central Istanbul to stop the march from happening, shutting down metro stations and blocking site visitors on the principle streets.
President Tayyip Erdogan’s Islamic-rooted AK Social gathering has toughened its rhetoric towards the LGBT neighborhood over the previous decade and banned delight marches since 2015, citing “safety causes”.
The Istanbul Governor’s Workplace labelled the organizations calling for the Satisfaction March as unlawful.
