KYIV: Ukraine will obtain €6 billion from the European Union by way of its four-year Ukraine facility within the subsequent two months, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stated on Friday (Mar 8).

The federal government expects to obtain €4.5 billion in March and one other €1.5 billion in April, Shmyhal advised a authorities assembly.

“This yr, we goal to obtain about €16 billion from the European Union. Ukraine could have the assets to combat and win. It’s our key goal and we are going to do the whole lot attainable for it,” Shmyhal stated.

With the battle in opposition to Russia now in its third yr, Ukraine is critically depending on financial and army help from its Western allies.

Billions in financial support within the first two years of the battle helped the federal government to take care of macroeconomic stability, tame inflation and guarantee well timed funds of pensions and public sector wages.

Ukraine channels most of its home funds revenues to fund its defence efforts.
