WASHINGTON: US regulation enforcement has disrupted a second main Chinese language hacking group nicknamed “Flax Hurricane”, FBI Director Christopher Wray stated on Wednesday (Sep 18), wresting 1000’s of compromised gadgets from its grasp.

Talking at a cybersecurity convention in Washington, Wray stated Flax Hurricane was being run by a Chinese language firm referred to as the Integrity Know-how Group that posed as an IT agency but in addition “collected intelligence and carried out reconnaissance for Chinese language authorities safety companies”.

A beforehand identified hacking group dubbed “Volt Hurricane” has been the topic of accelerating concern by Western officers because it was first recognized final yr as cyber sabotage group centered on establishing a foothold in essential US infrastructure.

US officers have stated it’s a China-backed group, whereas Beijing has stated it’s a ransomware gang.
