The United States will revoke its designation of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) as a international terrorist organisation (FTO) as Washington softens its method to post-war Syria following the autumn of Bashar al-Assad’s authorities final yr.

In the meantime, HTS stays beneath United Nations Safety Council sanctions, which had been imposed in 2014 over its earlier affiliation with al-Qaeda. Al-Sharaa additionally stays beneath UNSC sanctions, which might solely be eliminated by the Council itself.
