UNITED NATIONS: The USA warned Iran on the United Nations Safety Council on Wednesday (Oct 2) in opposition to focusing on it or Israel as UN Secretary-Common Antonio Guterres mentioned the “lethal cycle of tit-for-tat violence should cease” within the Center East.
“Time is working out,” he advised the council.
The 15-member council met after Israel killed the chief of Lebanon’s Hezbollah and started a floor assault in opposition to the Iran-backed militant group and Iran attacked Israel in a strike that raised fears of a wider struggle within the Center East.
“Our actions have been defensive in nature,” US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield advised the council.

French UN Ambassador Nicolas de Riviere mentioned France needs the Safety Council to “present unity and to talk with one voice” to de-escalate the scenario. Thomas-Greenfield mentioned the council ought to condemn Iran’s assault and impose “severe penalties” on Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards Corps for its actions.
