To the editor: Concerning Eli Federman’s piece on vacation lights, there’s nothing fallacious with illuminated Hanukkah decorations. In any case, Hanukkah is the Competition of Lights, a vacation celebrating Jews who fought off stress to evolve to a tradition that wasn’t theirs.

Christmas has been in our faces and ears since Halloween: lights, music, retailer shows, commercials and extra. Isn’t that sufficient? Jews should not lacking out on mild, magnificence or the rest by celebrating Hanukkah.

Being Jewish is sufficient. And being Jewish doesn’t imply that one can’t get pleasure from the fantastic thing about the season.

However Hanukkah is not Jewish Christmas.

To the editor: One factor the author overlooked: With the eight days of Hanukkah beginning on Christmas, the Jewish competition will stretch into the primary days of January. That means, most 2025 calendars will embody two Hanukkahs — one at the start, and one other close to the top. And with the best way the world has regarded in 2024, subsequent 12 months we’re gonna want as a lot mild as we will get!

To the editor: My younger son was raised within the Jewish religion however had watched the “Peanuts” Christmas particular the op-ed author discusses many instances. Then one Christmas Eve he attended midnight Mass together with his Catholic grandparents. When the Gospel of Luke was learn throughout the Mass, he whispered to them in astonishment, “I didn’t know the Gospel quoted ‘Peanuts!’ ” It was really a piece that unified all folks, if not within the spirit of “Christmas,” a minimum of within the spirit of peace and goodwill to all.
