To the editor: Whereas I recognize any argument towards voting for Donald Trump as somebody who may ever carry peace to the world, columnist Robin Abcarian’s assumption that voting for a third-party candidate is solely “towards Kamala Harris” is misguided concerning the state of our nation and the world.
It’s insulting to imagine that voting for the established order that Democrats (and non-Trump Republicans) symbolize is what any logical and peace-loving individual would do.
It ignores the truth that there was a bipartisan effort since World Struggle II to foist “free-market capitalism” onto our lives both on the level of a gun, or with the specter of impoverishment if one doesn’t take part within the globalized system of deregulated environmental and financial exploitation and competitors.
For tons of of tens of millions of individuals world wide, freedom consists not solely of defeating those that threaten reproductive rights and mass immigrant expulsion. It consists of significant social security nets, precise environmental protections and the tip of U.S. financial and army imperialism.
Gaza was destroyed on a Democratic president’s watch, but we’re to imagine a vote for Harris will put it aside? Pledges to cut back greenhouse fuel emissions are toothless, and we’re to imagine that our grandchildren won’t undergo immensely from local weather change?

To the editor: Abcarian’s pitch to voters outraged by U.S.-supported abuses of Palestinians boils all the way down to this: Issues are unhealthy for you underneath President Biden (however not for the remainder of us), issues will stay unhealthy for you underneath Harris (however not for the remainder of us), we expect issues will likely be worse for you underneath Trump (and possibly for the remainder of us too), so kindly preserve the remainder of us comfy and don’t vote your conscience.
In impact, Abcarian tells us that we and our considerations don’t matter sufficient to warrant outlined insurance policies to finish U.S.-funded Israeli struggle crimes. I hope for her sake and that of others equally comfy with hole arguments that Democrats encourage loads of different voters to hitch them — as a result of we aren’t moved by this reasoning.
