An armed man was shot and wounded by members of the U.S. Secret Service throughout a shootout early Sunday, authorities stated.
The person, who had traveled to Washington, D.C. from Indiana and was described as a “suicidal particular person” in a press release by the Secret Service, was taken to a neighborhood hospital after the taking pictures. His situation was unknown. There have been no accidents to Secret Service personnel.
In a press release, Secret Service Uniformed Division Chief Michael A. Buck stated the incident occurred close to seventeenth and F Streets, close to the western border of the White Home grounds.
President Trump was not on the White Home on Sunday morning, as he’s spending the weekend in Florida at Mar-a-Lago.
“Earlier on Saturday, native police shared details about a suicidal particular person who could also be touring to Washington DC from Indiana,” Buck stated. “Round midnight, members of the Secret Service encountered the person’s parked automobile close to seventeenth and F Streets, NW. Additionally they noticed a person on foot matching the outline close by. As officers approached, the person brandished a firearm and an armed confrontation ensued, throughout which pictures have been fired by our personnel.”
The incident is below investigation by the Metropolitan Police Division Inside Affairs Division’s Power Investigations Staff, Buck stated. The group investigates all shootings involving regulation enforcement officers within the District of Columbia.
