The assault is the deadliest in Russia because the Beslan college siege in 2004.

Within the sports activities corridor of that city’s Faculty No 1 – 1,500km south of Moscow – now a memorial to the victims of the siege, mourners laid out candles in tribute, images shared on social media confirmed.

The candles have been shaped to learn: “Moscow. We mourn. Beslan”.
