Skeletal stays found in Mexican border state of Chihuhua taken to lab for doable identification, officers say.
Authorities in Mexico have uncovered 12 our bodies in clandestine graves within the northern border state of Chihuahua.
Authorities found the skeletal stays in 11 graves in Ascension, about 180km (110 miles) west of Ciudad Juarez, close to the border with the US, the state prosecutor’s workplace mentioned in an announcement on Thursday.
The investigators began exploring the desolate web site on December 18, and in subsequent days, they expanded the search space.
They ultimately discovered 11 separate shallow pits into which a dozen our bodies had been dumped.
The stays have been taken to state forensic laboratories for doable identification and to find out, if doable, the causes of loss of life.
Chihuahua has been hit for years by violence linked to organised crime as a route for drug trafficking and the smuggling of migrants to the US.
The state has recorded 3,927 lacking individuals since 1952, in accordance with official figures.
Throughout Mexico, about 120,000 individuals are thought of lacking amid years of violence and instability.
The family of most of these lacking individuals are largely left to search for their family members by themselves, and so they incessantly kind volunteer search teams that exit into the desert in search of clandestine graves.
It was not recognized if any of these volunteer teams had helped authorities in finding the graves in Ascencion.
