A person has been arrested after he disrupted San Jose, California’s Mayor Matt Mahan’s tv interview by preventing his safety guard.
Mahan was talking to KRON4 on Tuesday night when a person strolling by interrupted the interview by talking loudly on his telephone.
The mayor tells him, “We’re doing an interview, sir.”
The person goes after the safety guard, a plain-clothed police officer, telling him he’ll “f-cking smack” him. He then punches the guard within the head, and a struggle breaks out.
In an announcement from his workplace, obtained by The Hill, the mayor mentioned he’s grateful for his safety guard and the complete police division.
“Mayor Matt Mahan is deeply grateful to his safety element and the complete San Jose Police Division,” Mahan’s spokesperson Tasha Dean mentioned in an announcement. “The actions of the Officer had been heroic and a testomony to the de-escalation coaching that makes our officers efficient, compassionate and stewards of neighborhood belief.”
Mahan’s spokesperson mentioned he’s “resolved in his dedication to create a safer metropolis for everybody.”
“Meaning hiring extra law enforcement officials and addressing the basis causes of crime, together with by intervening earlier and extra successfully in cycles of dependancy, psychological sickness and violence,” the spokesperson mentioned.
San Jose Police Division Appearing Chief Paul Joseph mentioned in an announcement that the suspect had an open arrest warrant in Georgia for “resisting arrest with violence.”

“As with all use of power incident, this will likely be reviewed completely by the Police Division to make sure the officer complied with the regulation and coverage,” Joseph’s assertion mentioned.
