To the editor: This text quoted the proprietor of one of many companies raided (“‘They’re grabbing individuals.’ L.A. and Orange County automotive wash employees focused by federal immigration raids,” June 11). He mentioned he would shut his store with out the workers detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement. However past lack of revenues, shouldn’t he, and the myriad different enterprise and farm homeowners who’re being raided, be deeply fearful about their ICE liabilities, not least of all below 8 U.S. Code 1324a? If ICE detains undocumented employees, are employers in danger?
If the current administration is simply getting began on its marketing campaign promise to deport 11 million undocumented individuals nationwide, companies are in for an extended, edgy summer season. Chaos for employees. Chaos for companies. Chaos interval.

To the editor: Pacific Auto Spa in Whittier, at which an immigration raid was reported on June 11, is my go-to automotive wash. My privileged view from the ready space is of hardworking women and men wiping down automobiles. I see them sometimes joke with each other — gestures of camaraderie and dignity whereas incomes an trustworthy greenback.
The raid was reported on in a single web page of the Los Angeles Instances. On one other web page was reporting on the Louisiana Legislature’s transfer to reinforce immigration enforcement (“Louisiana is the newest Republican-led state increasing its function in immigration enforcement,” June 12).
I’ll train a sliver of energy via my discretionary revenue. I’ll resist a deliberate journey to New Orleans. I’ll spend my cash in Downey, Los Angeles, Whittier and all via California.
