BAMAKO: Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger will introduce new biometric passports as a part of their withdrawal from a West African bloc in favour of a brand new Sahel alliance after navy leaders seized energy in all three nations, Mali’s chief stated on Sunday (Sep 15).

The three junta-led Sahel neighbours collectively introduced in January they would go away the 15-member Financial Neighborhood of West African States (ECOWAS), which has sought to influence them to rethink their resolution.

Burkina Faso introduced earlier this month that it was rolling out new passports with out the ECOWAS brand.

“Within the coming days, a brand new biometric passport of the AES (Alliance of Sahel States) might be put into circulation with the intention of harmonising journey paperwork in our frequent space and facilitating the mobility of our residents all through the world”, Malian junta chief Assimi Goita introduced on Sunday night.
